Borussia Dortmund survived a stunning test at the FIFA Club World Cup, edging South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in a high-octane 4–3 victory. The match, played at a packed stadium in the United States, delivered nonstop action and showcased the attacking flair of both teams.
Dortmund struck first with a quick goal from Julian Brandt, but the Sundowns responded with equal energy, leveling the score soon after through Themba Zwane. The game turned into a goal-for-goal spectacle, with both teams pushing forward relentlessly.
Sundowns, playing with confidence and pace, refused to be intimidated by their European opponents. At one point, they brought the game back to 3–3, sending their fans into celebration. But in the dying minutes, Dortmund’s class showed through as substitute Youssoufa Moukoko netted the winner — a calm finish after a slick team move.
While Dortmund takes the win, Sundowns earned global respect with their fearless display, proving that African clubs belong on the world stage.
